To provide a fresh perspective, law firm Addleshaw Goddard turned to poets, because lawyers and poets use the same tools… words. These two professions use words to convey meaning; inspire change; and help us understand and navigate our world.
From here, it looks like a doddle
Like a jump, skip and hop
But really it’s taken days, months, years
To seal the deal, get to the top
I didn’t do it by myself
Hundreds of others helped me along
Working into the nights
Fighting through the slog
With thanks to Edward Heaton, Legal Director, Corporate Transactions at BT, for his contribution.

A TURNAROUND
AGAIN TAKES FLIGHT
By Rishi Dastidar
I didn’t think we’d get it off the ground
Couldn’t see the wood for the trees
There were different paths we could take
We couldn’t predict where they would lead
There were times I wanted turn around
To throw it all in, give up, just stop
But after a breath of fresh air, a rest
I could refocus on the goal - the top
At points, it felt like life or death
Peddling up the steep
Olympic problem solving
Being done on 4 hours of sleep
I noticed that stress wasn’t helpful
My best ideas came in silence
The times I took the pressure off
And embraced the quiet
Finally, on the horizon, I saw the end
It was crunch time
I picked up the pace and like magic
All the parts gently aligned
And now I can have a quick celebration
As I take in the view
But I better not stop for too much longer
There are plenty of other deals to do
